Initially delayed due to the unfortunate passing of Born x Raised founder, Chris "Spanto" Printup, it now appears that the release of the Born x Raised x Nike SB Dunk Low is imminent. While concrete release details have not been officially disclosed, there is intense speculation that the Born x Raised x Nike SB Dunk Low will become available on September 28th, exclusively through the brand's official website.
In 2013, Spanto launched Born x Raised, drawing inspiration from his upbringing in Los Angeles to shape the brand's clothing and distinctive imagery. He earned the respect and friendship of influential figures in the streetwear industry, such as Chris Gibbs, whose store Union was among the first to feature Born x Raised, and Jerry Lorenzo, who recently collaborated with Born x Raised in a campaign for Levi's. Following Spanto's passing, Gibbs, Lorenzo, and numerous others have shared their heartfelt memories of him on social media. Spanto's vision for streetwear extended beyond just Los Angeles; it had a strong focus on his hometown of Venice. In a promotional video by Nike for his upcoming SB Dunk release, Spanto noted that his family had deep roots in the area, spanning over a century.
Born x Raised, the Los Angeles-based brand, has collaborated with Nike to craft and unveil a special edition of the Nike SB Dunk Low.
This exclusive Nike SB Dunk Low boasts a predominantly white premium leather upper, contrasting with blue nubuck overlays. Notable features encompass Born x Raised's well-known motto, "One Block At A Time," intricately embroidered on both the forefoot and tongue tags, alongside eye-catching holographic Swooshes and heel tabs. Additionally, you'll find distinctive "On The Turf" 3D text on the heel of the midsole and inner tongues.
