In the wake of a successful 2021, characterized by his solo exhibitions at both The Brooklyn Museum and The Mori Art Center Gallery in Tokyo, KAWS has embarked on his "KAWS: HOLIDAY" tour once again, marking its eighth stop at Changbai Mountain in Jilin Province, China. At the Jilin installation, visitors were greeted by two gracefully positioned KAWS "Companion" sculptures atop the snow-capped peaks of the region's mountains. This artistic display offered a cinematic experience, reminiscent of the tour's previous destinations in Taipei, Hong Kong, Mount Fuji, and even outer space. Since its inception in 2018, this travelling exhibition has consistently collaborated with AllRightsReserved to orchestrate these grand showcases, with generous sponsorship provided by The North Face. The tour introduced an exclusive capsule collection of limited-edition items, including specially crafted reusable hand warmers designed to combat the mountain's chilly climate, a limited-edition snow globe ornament, and an 8.5-inch "COMPANION" figure available in brown, black, and snowy-white variations. Among the wearable collection pieces was a grey and navy zip-up hoodie adorned with the iconic KAWS "Companion" imagery on both the front and back. In reflection on this new art installation, KAWS shared his sentiments, stating, "The setting of Changbai Mountain is truly exceptional, and it has been an honour to showcase my work in such a unique environment."
